A collaborative project with NIKKO COMPANY, "KENDAMA".
An attempt to redefine "just an object" into "an experience" and create something that makes everyday moments precious, pursuing the true nature of art.
A plate with a picture of a flower, horse, and snake is spun, and sake is poured onto the plate according to the result.
The three plates have different depths, and the person who spins the plate drinks up according to the rules, enjoying KENDAMA.
The three motifs depicted have aspects of life overlapped.
Flowers symbolize splendor, joy, love, and creativity.
Horses represent passion, challenge, and the power to move forward.
Snakes represent difficulties, failures, and painful experiences.
However, they are not conflicting concepts, but rather essential elements that make up life.
Moreover, kendama is said to have originated from 16th-century European bilboquet and has developed uniquely in Japan.
Considering its multicultural background, the design aims for a universal presence based on blue and white, without being limited to specific country's decorative style. It is not a reference to tradition, but a form that encompasses the flow of history.
